Today, it all feels like second nature—because someone, at some point, had that one good idea. And then refused to give up.

The vision that drives us

The story of Vasco began with a single question: How can we help the world speak with one voice? The idea of breaking down language barriers was fueled by the courage to chase something that once felt almost impossible. The paths we forged back then quickly became the direction for the entire industry. And ever since, we’ve been steadily pushing the boundaries of communication—revolution after revolution.

Maybe it’s because the challenge was so tough that it captured our full attention.

From words to action

The journey began when Maciej Góralski created a business specializing in language flashcards and early electronic translation devices. Following a partnership with BBC World Service to launch audio language courses, his focus quickly shifted toward an even larger global project.

The Vasco Traveler quickly became an indispensable companion for trip-goers. It stood out as the only translator available to combine GPS navigation, offline travel guides, free incoming calls, and a suite of practical features for traveling abroad.

The Vasco Shop&Office Translator appears as a client-facing translation device, showcasing its potential for rediscovery six years later.

An idea waiting for its moment

Designed with customer-service professionals in mind, the Vasco Shop & Office Translator aimed to break down daily workplace barriers. We originally paused its development to focus elsewhere, little knowing that six years later we would step back and realize its untapped potential.

One of the most impressive demos I had at CES 2024 was with the team of the Vasco Translator E1, an earpiece that uses AI and an app to translate 49 languages in real time.

Vasco wants the translation tools to meet the needs of customers who travel regularly, as well as those who are ex-pats, working in international teams or are in families that have language barriers due to relatives being from different countries.

You can literally travel the world and use this device and get around and not feel lost in a country.
