(“Vasco”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, discloses, retains, and safeguards personal information in the course of our commercial activities in Canada, including through our website https://vasco-translator.ca/en/, apps, products, and customer support (the “Services”). It is designed to meet the requirements of Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”).

If you are a business customer or prospective business customer, personal information does not include your title, business address and business telephone number when we use that information to contact you in your business capacity.

We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects without meaningful human involvement.
If we wish to use information for a new purpose, we will identify that purpose and obtain consent if required.
Consent
We obtain your knowledge and consent for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information, except where inappropriate or not required by law (e.g., investigations, fraud prevention, legal, security, or where consent is not feasible). The form of consent (express or implied) depends on the sensitivity of the information and your reasonable expectations. You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. We will explain any implications of withdrawal (e.g., we may be unable to provide certain services).
Limiting collection, use, disclosure, and retention
Collection is limited to what is necessary for identified purposes and done by fair and lawful means.
We disclose personal information only for identified purposes, with consent, or as required or permitted by law (e.g., to comply with a warrant or lawful request).
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the identified purposes or meet legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, or litigation hold requirements. If information has been used to make a decision about you, we retain it long enough to allow you to access it. When no longer needed, we securely delete, de-identify, or anonymize it. For example, retention periods include:
- Account records: For the duration of your account and up to 5 years after account closure
- Transaction records: For at least 6 years to comply with tax and accounting requirements
- Customer support records: For up to 3 years after resolution
- Marketing preferences: Until you withdraw your consent or unsubscribe
Accuracy
We keep personal information as accurate, complete, and up to date as necessary for the purposes for which it is used. You can request corrections (see Section 11).
Safeguards and breach reporting
We use physical, organizational, and technological safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including access controls, SSL encryption, malware scanning, least-privilege permissions, encryption in transit, secure development and vendor due diligence, employee training, and secure disposal. We require service providers with access to personal information to provide a comparable level of protection and to use the information only for specified purposes.
If a breach of security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm, we will report to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (“OPC”), notify affected individuals, and keep records of all such breaches, as required by PIPEDA.
Although we take precautions against possible breaches of our security systems, no company can fully eliminate the risks of unauthorized access to your personal information and no website is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, hacking, data loss or breaches of our security systems will never occur. Accordingly, you should not transmit personal information to us using our website if you consider that information to be sensitive.
